Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrates an Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset and Oculus Touch controllers during the Oculus Connect 3 event in San Jose, California, U.S., on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared his opinion of Apple 's new mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, in a video posted to Instagram where he called Meta's Quest 3 headset "the better value" and "the better product, period." While it's obvious Zuckerberg would promote his company's product, his decision to post a video about the differences between the Quest 3 and Vision Pro shows the increasing competition between Apple and Meta. Meta has taken a lower-cost approach while Apple has focused on sharper screens, more powerful processors and higher-end materials. Apple officially launched its Vision Pro in the U.S. on Feb 2.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos famously told rivals, "Your margin is my opportunity." His successor as CEO, Andy Jassy, is telling Wall Street about opportunities to increase margin. In its third-quarter earnings report on Thursday, Amazon reported an operating margin of 7.8%, the highest since it reached a record of 8.2% in the first quarter of 2021. But the world has changed since early last year, when Wall Street turned on tech and an extended bull market came to a halt. AWS revenue increased 12% in the quarter, a slower pace of expansion than what was reported by smaller rivals Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

However, after ChatGPT's public release in 2022, this may no longer be the case as generative AI (GenAI) democratizes coding to those who simply possess English proficiency. Simply put, hard skills can make you good at one job, while soft skills can make you good at many jobs. Morning Bid: Banks, Biden visit buoy markets

Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York City, U.S., August 15, 2023. Biden leaves later on Tuesday for a high stakes visit to Israel and Jordan and Washington said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed to let humanitarian aid reach besieged Gazans. That reversed a pre-weekend 'safety bid' that emerged amid fears an Israeli ground invasion into Gaza could draw other regional countries and groups into the war. Before then, bond markets will have to negotiate tomorrow's 20-year Treasury auction. The relatively new 20-year tenor has often proved unpopular and will be watched closely after a poor reception for the latest 30-year bond last week.

Afghanistan can spring England upset, says coach Trott

Oct 14 (Reuters) - Afghanistan may be bottom of the World Cup standings after losing their first two games, but the Asian side have the ability to upset defending champions England in their group fixture on Sunday, their English coach Jonathan Trott said. "We'll have an opportunity tomorrow to put pressure on England and we've got to make sure we do that." England thrashed Afghanistan by 150 runs at the last World Cup but Trott said the gulf in quality between the two sides has significantly reduced. He trained really well last night, obviously had a long bat, did his running, seems to be improving, so all good signs ahead of tomorrow," England batter Joe Root said. England lost their opener to New Zealand but bounced back with a win over Bangladesh to sit fifth in the table.

CHENNAI, India, Oct 12 (Reuters) - New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will play his first match of the World Cup against Bangladesh on Friday but fast bowler Tim Southee will continue on the sidelines, the 33-year-old batter said on Thursday. Experienced fast bowler Southee has been recovering following surgery on his fractured right thumb. "Tim's progressing well, but won't be playing tomorrow's game," Williamson, who led his team to the final of the 2019 edition of the tournament, told reporters. Since 1949, all female recruits have gone through boot camp at the South Carolina base; the 4th Battalion was created in 1986 as the women's unit. Inside the pool, men and women struggle side by side, jumping off a platform and swimming to the other end. Some measure of all-male companies would be necessary no matter what because there just are not enough female recruits to go around. The split, she said, divided them into “male Marines” and “female Marines,” and that shaped the men’s view of the women and made it more difficult for them to work together as they moved along. Young female recruits, who usually come from high schools where there is little separation, acknowledge the differences but voice no complaints.

A magnificent time to buy the dipHigher bond yields hurt the Magnificent Seven's shares, Kostin said, simultaneously sending their valuations lower. "The recent upgrade to consensus estimates in part reflects the largest tech stocks growing into their elevated P/E multiples – especially NVDA and AMZN." "History suggests the upcoming earnings season is a potential catalyst for the largest tech stocks," he wrote. And for investors worried about price, Kostin has good news: shares of the Magnificent Seven stocks are the cheapest they've been in six years.
